From 2019 to 2023 I have led Better Neighbourhoods Inc. in the sponsorship and presentation of three local editions of the The Better Cities Film Festival. Locally relevant short films are selected from The Better Cities library to provoke, inspire and offer new insights into city building and are followed by a Q&A with local community leaders and industry professionals.

Our 2022 and 2023 presentations included neighbourhood walking tours hosted by experts in urban design, architecture and local history. In 2022, I created a downtown walkability workshop in partnership with the local business association to gain public insights into perceptions of safety, comfort, and accessibility.

Collaborating across agencies and within communities is challenging but rewarding work. Events like these allow us to rise above the minutiae to reflect on the bigger picture with our neighbours.
